About This Quote

Basically, this is a rhetorical question. It's intended to make the reader think and consider what would happen if we, as a species, started killing off the "Old Ones". After all, we know what happened when we killed all the dinosaurs and wiped out most of the other species on earth. There was panic, fear and three empty parking spaces in the Sanctuary.

However, looking at such a statement from such a vengeful perspective is an easy way to miss important points about this story arc. After all, the Elders are not very good at planing for the future or doing much in terms of long term strategy. They do their best when it comes to short-term strategies and quick strikes.

When it comes to staying ahead of the curve, they are pretty bad at it. They don't see big picture stuff like leaving a few ancient creatures alive so they can survive and have a chance at having another generation of young ones.
